Job description

We are a large domestic metals manufacturer that supports the residential and commercial building industry with facilities across the Eastern United States. Our multi-shift 24/7 manufacturing plant in the Central Florida area is recruiting for a Night Shift Operations Manager. Starting annual salary compensation will be dependent on experience ranging between $100,000 - $125,000 along with an attractive benefits package.

Duties include directing and coordinating multiple department activities that will increase performance, drive and support productivity, quality, and process improvements. Continuous work to enhance safety culture by focusing on behaviors and leading by example. Plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures, recommends improvements in Extrusion methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. Possess a skill level and understanding of aluminum extrusion processes to enable the training of new personnel in all phases of operations, capability of performing equipment, machinery and process adjustments that enable processes to meet or exceed production quality expectations. Cooperatively works to solve problems and maintains a commitment to continuous improvement. As Night Shift Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and achieving production targets in Extrusion, Paint, Maintenance, Die Shop, and Packing departments.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Oversee operations of the plant over night to ensure that all production, quality, and safety

goals are met.

  • Learn, understand, comply, and champion all plant safety rules and regulations
  • Hold self and others accountable for safe operations, wear required PPE, and actively participate in safety training and testing
  • Learn and thoroughly understand the sequence of plant operations, and WIP monitoring to ensure smooth process flow.
  • Provide direction, leadership, coaching, and training for all night shift team members
  • Assign/move labor between assets to ensure optimal coverage
  • Assign job tasks to plant operators and mechanics
  • Perform quality control checks according to established procedures
  • Provide daily shift reports documenting gaps in performance
  • Ensure production schedules are followed in sequence
  • Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating and maintenance issues while improving product quality.
  • Act as a liaison between upper management and supervision to keep night shift personnel informed on matters of communications, decisions, and policies.
  • Determine staffing requirements and work with the HR and other departments to satisfy staffing requirements.


Other Responsibilities:

  •  Responsible for developing subordinates, increasing their overall performance and enhancing their future growth.
  • Performs other duties as required to promote overall plant safety and operational effectiveness
  • Works closely with HR and Safety for consistent applications of policies, procedures, and applicable labor and safety laws.


Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum of 10 years in a heavy manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing leadership
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite products
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team member to accomplish goals through the efforts of other
  • Must be a self-motivator
  • Ability to multitask effectively
  • Excellent problem solving, investigative, and experimental skills
